November 27th – Bruce Lee born – “Kung fu fighting”

In 1940, #BruceLee was born.  The greatest star of #KungFu films ever#singing;#feelgood

Kung Fu Fighting

Oh-hoh-hoh-hoah
Oh-hoh-hoh-hoah
Oh-hoh-hoh-hoah
Oh-hoh-hoh-hoah[Chorus:]
Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting
Those kicks were fast as lightning
In fact, it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up
They were chopping them down
It’s an ancient Chinese art
And everybody knew their part
From a fainting, to a slip
And a kickin’ from the hip
Everybody was Kung Fu fighting
Those kids were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright’ning
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky Billie Chin and little Sammy Chong
He said, here comes the big boss, let’s get it on
We took the bow and made a stand
Started swaying with the hand
A sudden motion made me skip
Now we’re into a brand new trip

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting
Those kids were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright’ning
But they did it with expert timing

Oh-hoh-hoh-hoh, ha
Oh-hoh-hoh-hoh, ha
Oh-hoh-hoh-hoh-ha
Keep on, keep on, keep on
Sure enough
Everybody was Kung Fu fighting
Those kids were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright’ning
Make sure you have expert timing
Kung Fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning…

27-11 Carl Lewis Kung Fu fighting

November 25th – Mousetrap play opens in London – “Cheese”

In 1952, #Mousetrap, the worlds longest running play, written by #AgathaChristie opened in #London.  Here is #TimMinchin with #Cheese #singing;#feelgood

Cheese

C-H-E-E-S-E

Cheese

Cheese

Cheese

C-H-E-E-S-E

Cheese

Cheese

I love cheese, but its plain to see
That cheese, doesnt love me
I am such a fool in love
I just cannot get enough
But its an unrequited love
I can feel it in my guts

I spend the nights, tossing and turning
My stomach is churning
My heart is a-burning
My nightmares are turning upon me and shame me
To drive me insane, oh the pain, I complain on my brain
And I wake up, with sweat on my brow
I know I gotta give it up and I must do it now
But instead in the morning when my wife is gone
I find myself back on cheeseworld.com

And I know that its wrong but Im soon navigating
To real mature stuff and skanky old ladies
Feeding my fetish for fettered old fetta
Photos of friesian on beds of bruschetta
The more they smell the more they swing
The faster the speed my mouth gets wet oh god

Oh god

J’adore le fromage,
mais le fromage n’est pas adore me.
Rien, je ne regrette rien, except perhaps last night’s half-wheel of post-midnight brie.

Trying to replace my fon-dos with fon-donts
Trying to develop strength of will, but I know that I wont
I have found love is never fair
We should be such a marvellous pair
But each time I bring her home she goes, renders me comatose
Leaves me with self loathing slumped on my chair

I cannot camen-bear it anymore
E-damn you ?
Everytime I lead you through the door
I end up curled up on the floor
Oh god my poor heart is too sore, so no more

But before I give you up, I just need one more tiny taste
To leave you like this, would be a criminal waste
Just one more tiny taste, darling please
Just one more little slither of C-H-E-E-S-E
Cheese

Cheese

Cheese, cheese, cheese
Cheese

November 24th – ‘Origin of Species’ published – “I wanna be like you”

In 1859 #Darwin published his world changing book The Origin of Species.  Here  is a song from #Disney s #JungleBook, to celebrate the thinking ape #singing;#feelgood

I wanna be like you

Now I’m the king of the swingers, the jungle V.I.P
I reached the top and had to stop
And that’s what bothering me
I want to be a man, man-cub, and stroll right into town
And be just like those other men
I’m tired of monkeying around
Now don’t try to kid me, man-cub, I’ll make a deal with you
What I desire is man’s red fire to make my dreams come true
So give me the secret, man-cub, clue me what to do
Give me the power of man’s red flower so I can be like youOoh-bi-doo, I wan’na be like you
I want to walk like you, talk like you, too
You see it’s true, an ape like me
Can learn to be like you, too

Now don’t try to kid me, man-cub, I made a deal with you
What I desire is man’s red fire to make my dream’s come true
So give me the secret, man-cub, clue me what to do
Give me the power of man’s red flower so I can be like you

Ooh-bi-doo, I wan’na be like you
I want to walk like you, talk like you, too
You see it’s true, an ape like me
Can learn to be like you, too

Break it down boys, break it down boys, break it down
Break it down boys, break it down boys, break it down

Now I’m the king of the swingers, the jungle V.I.P.
I reached the top and had to stop
And that’s what bothering me
I want to be a man, man-cub, and stroll right into town
And be just like those other men
I’m tired of monkeying around

Ooh-bi-doo, I wan’na be like you
I want to walk like you, talk like you, too
You see it’s true, an ape like me
Can learn to be like you, too

Can learn to be someone like me

November 23rd – Billy the Kid born – “Billy don’t be a hero”

In1859, #BillyTheKid was born.  You can just imagine his mother singing this song to him #singing;#feelgood

Billy don’t be a hero

The marchin’ band came down along Main Street
The soldier-blues fell in behind
I looked across and there I saw Billy
Waiting to go and join the line
And with her head upon his shoulder
His young and lovely fiancee
From where I stood, I saw she was cryin’
And through her tears I heard her say”Billy, don’t be a hero, don’t be a fool with your life”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back and make me your wife”
And as he started to go she said “Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back to me”

The soldier-blues were trapped on a hillside
The battle raging all around
The sergeant cried “We’ve got to hang on, boys”
“We got to hold this piece a’ground”
“I need a volunteer to ride up”
“And bring us back some extra men”
And Billy’s hand was up in a moment
Forgettin’ all the words she said

She said
“Billy, don’t be a hero, don’t be a fool with your life”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back and make me your wife”
And as he started to go she said “Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back to me”

I heard his fiancee got a letter
That told how Billy died that day
The letter said that he was a hero
She should be proud he died that way
I heard she threw that letter away

November 22nd – JFK assassinated – “I shot the sheriff”

In 1963, #JFK was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald.  From that moment on, conspiracy theories started to circulate, so today we ask Who shot the sheriff #singing;#feelgood

I shot the sheriff

(I shot the sheriff
But I didn’t shoot no deputy, oh no! Oh!
I shot the sheriff
But I didn’t shoot no deputy, ooh, ooh, oo-ooh.)
Yeah! All around in my home town,
They’re tryin’ to track me down;
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the killing of a deputy,
For the life of a deputy.
But I say:Oh, now, now. Oh!
(I shot the sheriff.) – the sheriff.
(But I swear it was in selfdefence.)
Oh, no! (Ooh, ooh, oo-oh) Yeah!
I say: I shot the sheriff – Oh, Lord! –
(And they say it is a capital offence.)
Yeah! (Ooh, ooh, oo-oh) Yeah!

Sheriff John Brown always hated me,
For what, I don’t know:
Every time I plant a seed,
He said kill it before it grow –
He said kill them before they grow.
And so:

Read it in the news:
(I shot the sheriff.) Oh, Lord!
(But I swear it was in self-defence.)
Where was the deputy? (Oo-oo-oh)
I say: I shot the sheriff,
But I swear it was in selfdefence. (Oo-oh) Yeah!

Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town, yeah!
All of a sudden I saw sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down,
So I shot – I shot – I shot him down and I say:
If I am guilty I will pay.

(I shot the sheriff,)
But I say (But I didn’t shoot no deputy),
I didn’t shoot no deputy (oh, no-oh), oh no!
(I shot the sheriff.) I did!
But I didn’t shoot no deputy. Oh! (Oo-oo-ooh)

Reflexes had got the better of me
And what is to be must be:
Every day the bucket a-go a well,
One day the bottom a-go drop out,
One day the bottom a-go drop out.
I say:

I – I – I – I shot the sheriff.
Lord, I didn’t shot the deputy. Yeah!
I – I (shot the sheriff) –
But I didn’t shoot no deputy, yeah! No, yeah!

November 20th – Bo Diddley appears on TV – “Hey Bo Diddley!”

In 1955 the legendary #BoDiddley, who influenced all the great rock and pop names of the 50’s and 60’s appeared on TV for the first time #singing;#feelgood

Hey Bo Diddley

Bo Diddley done had a farm,
On that farm he had some women,
Women here, women there,
Women, women, women everywhere.
But one little girl lived on a hill,
She rustled and tustled like Buffalo Bill,
One day she decided she’d go for a ride,
With a pistol and a sword by her side.

She rolled right up to my front door,
Knocked an’ knocked ’til her fist got sore,
When she turned and walked away,
All I could hear my baby say:

Hey Bo Diddley, Oh Bo Diddley,
Hey Bo Diddley, Oh Bo Diddley.

Saw my baby run across the field,
Slippin’ and slidin’ like an automobile,
Hollerin’, my baby got towed away,
Slipped on from me like a Cadillac-8.

Hey Bo Diddley, Oh Bo Diddley,
Hey Bo Diddley, Oh Bo Diddley.

I just looked around and he was gone.Hmmm

Has anyone here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me whe he’s gone?
You know, he freed a lot of people
but it seems the good die young, yeah.
I just looked around and he was gone.

Oh yeah

Has anyone here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me whe he’s gone?
He freed a lot of people
but it seems the good die young, yeah.
I just looked around and he was gone.

[Insrumental]

Has anyone here seen my friend Bobby?
Can you tell me whe he’s gone?
You know, he freed a lot of people
but the good, they die young, yeah.

November 18th – Billy Joel has first No. 1 album – “My life”

In 1978, #BillyJoel had his first No. 1 album with #52ndStreet.  Here’s my favourite one from that disc #MyLife #singing;#feelgood

My Life

Got a call from an old friend
We used to be real close
Said he couldn’t go on the American way
Closed the shop, sold the house
Bought a ticket to the West Coast
Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L.A.I don’t need you to worry for me cause I’m alright
I don’t want you to tell me it’s time to come home
I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life and leave me aloneI never said you had to offer me a second chance
I never said I was a victim of circumstance
I still belong, don’t get me wrong
And you can speak your mind
But not on my time

They will tell you you can’t sleep alone
In a strange place
Then they’ll tell you you can’t sleep
With somebody else
Ah, but sooner or later you sleep
In your own space
Either way it’s okay
You wake up with yourself

I don’t need you to worry for me cause I’m alright
I don’t want you to tell me it’s time to come home
I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life and leave me alone

I never said you had to offer me a second chance
I never said I was a victim of circumstance
I still belong, don’t get me wrong
And you can speak your mind
But not on my time
I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life and leave me alone
